Accutane.

Accutane (isotretinoin) is a medicine your health care provider can prescribe if you have been diagnosed with severe nodular acne that does not respond to any other methods you tried, including antibiotics. Accutane should be taken only after you have discussed everything with your health care provider. A negative pregnancy test is required for a woman to be able to start the treatment. Condition of a woman of childbearing potential will be monitored regularly – as Accutane can cause very serious birth defects in babies if their mothers took it. Tell your doctor if you are going to combine Accutane with any other medications – such as oral steroids, vitamin A supplements, medications for seizures, phenytoin, or tetracycline antibiotics unless your dose has been properly adjusted and your doctor told you it's okay. If you have a history of suicide attempt, anorexia nervosa, mental illness, heart or liver disease, asthma, depression, diabetes, osteoporosis, or high triglyceride levels taking Accutane may not be completely safe for you – make sure you talk to your doctor about the possibility of using this medicine safely. Never give Accutane to other people as they can have certain contraindications you are unaware of.
